Hello Friends!
I hope this October was as fun and colorful for you as it was for me!
October was full of events for the Children’s Equipping Center. We held a two day seminar on how to release children in praise and power, and continued our Tuesday prayer meetings and Samuel Company “internship”. A quick testimony I want to share with you happened on one of our Sunday morning services in the 6-12 year old classroom. One of our children leaders, Sydney (age 12), who has a huge heart for praying for healing invited a woman within our IHOP-KC family to come and receive prayer. This woman has been suffering with lung cancer for a while now, and is currently going through chemo-therapy. All the children in the room immediately came around her, gently placing their hands on her and started praying. Just watching these little ones praying with greater faith than I know was enough to make me start crying! Then one of our other children leaders, Kelsey (age 14) grabbed the microphone to start praying and said “Four days ago the Lord gave me a dream where a woman with cancer came to the CEC building and we all started praying for her. I didn’t know who she was but in my dream, the Holy Spirit came and healed her because all of the children were praying. Since my dream I’ve been praying for this woman I didn’t know, and here you are!” Well that just encouraged the kids to pray even more, and the faith in that room was just incredible. Six year olds were looking into this woman’s eyes and declaring the Lord’s love and affection to her; Eight year olds were calling on the Father to glorify His name by healing this woman. Well that just did me in and I realized I need to humble myself and learn from these children! We are still waiting to hear back from the doctor concerning this woman’s condition, but I am convinced the Lord heard these children’s prayers and in His perfect timing will heal her completely. And soon!
Serving in the office at the CEC continues to be a joy and a welcome challenge. I’ve been focusing on the Children’s Equipping Center website this month and have loved learning how to edit and arrange all of our information for the whole globe to read. I’ve been doing a lot more writing and meeting with designers to come up with an effective “look” and “campaign” to communicate our heart to the children in the nations of the earth. Most of the time I wonder how the heck I got hired for this position and therefore so grateful to be working alongside a group of people who share the same heart and vision I do; and who are patient in teaching me how to effectively to my job! (Here’s a link if you are interested in seeing what I’m currently working on: Children’s Equipping Center).
The Prayer Room continues to be such an encouragement to me. I know that I could not do the rest of my job effectively if I did not have my time in the prayer room to dial down and tell the Lord I love Him and hear Him say it back. As I’ve continued to read through Hosea and Song of Solomon, the Lord has set me on a journey to learn what meekness is. I am quickly realizing that I have no idea what it means and even more aware that I need more of it in my life! Meekness is defined in the dictionary as “the feeling of patient, submissive humbleness” – the Lord defines it as the Cross. The God of the Universe was beaten, scourged, spit upon, mocked, and nailed to a tree to die a traitor’s death. And He let it happen. In Matthew 27:13-14 Pilate asks “‘Do You not hear how many things they testify against you?’ But [Jesus] answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.” Jesus was so confident in who He was, and in the Father’s opinion of Him, that He didn’t have to defend Himself, or prove Himself. He also didn’t reveal all the faults or failures of His accusers and mockers – which He totally could have done! And then to top it off, as He is in excruciating pain and humiliation, He asks the Father to forgive them. Instead of complaining, and instead of asking the Father to take Him off the cross, He blesses His enemies. Oh that I could be like Jesus!
As we head into holidays and come to the end of this year, I want to ask you to pray for my heart to stay steady and focused on the Lord and not on the business and craziness of this season. I also ask that you would lift up the IHOP-KC staff, and more specifically the CEC staff as we prepare for the onething conference at the end of this year. Check out the link and seriously consider coming and spending your new year with thousands of young adults, crying out to the Lord for your own heart and your nation. And as always please email me with any prayer requests you might have!
Grace and Peace,
Rebecca
