Hello Friends!
As always, September was a busy month, but an exciting one too! My roommates and I moved out of our wonderful little apartment and into brand new beautiful house with one of my best friends from college. It has been one of the biggest blessings this year – to have my own room, to have a huge house to have people over and fellowship (much like how we did in college), and we have a back yard! I am really enjoying living with these women and have already been so encouraged and strengthened by their friendships. So… if you want to come visit, know you have a place to stay!
Back in Kansas City, the Children’s Equipping Center has been kept quite busy this month by launching two new programs for families and kids. I had mentioned in my last update that we were going to start the Malachi 4:6 Prayer Meetings, and so far they have been incredible. My heart swells every time I go into our little meeting room and see loads of families and children coming together to worship and praise the Lord. While the leaders direct the prayer meetings, it’s the kids who are the ones stepping up to lead prayers on the microphone, to ask if we can pray for those who are sick in the room, and who are singing the worship songs on stage. It is so exciting to be in the beginning stages of teaching young children how to live a lifestyle of prayer, and to watch them begin to walk in the confidence that what they do really does change things.
Our newest program we started this month was the Samuel Company. It is a three month children’s “internship”, where children ages 8-12 are partnering with the Nightwatch staff during the evening to learn what it means to pray both day and night. My heart connects with this program on so many levels! These kids are being led by some of my very good friends from the Nightwatch, and being taught by Stuart Greaves, the director of the Nightwatch and one of the most humble and knowledgeable men I have ever served under. I can’t wait to see what these kids learn and how they take what they learn and start living it out.
The Evening Section (6pm-midnight) of the Prayer Room has continued to be such a joy to serve and worship in. It never fails that whatever I am reading or studying in the Bible, the worship team on stage starts singing that exact verse, or a song about it! The Lord has really captured my attention with the study on the book of Hosea I am doing. He is constantly reminding me of His mercy, and I am constantly realizing that I have no idea what that little word means. I have been taught that mercy is when the Lord doesn’t give us what we deserve… and I am coming to grips with the fact that I have no idea how much I mean to Him, and how much it cost Him to have me be with Him where He is.
I would love to hear any prayer requests, updates, or just a quick hello from you! Please pray for all of the kids who are participating in these new programs we are starting – that it wouldn’t be about hype but that they would truly encounter the Lord. I also ask that you would pray for my own heart and growth in the Lord, as well as my roommates and getting settled in our new house! Again, feel free to email me or post here on my blog any prayer requests you, your family, or your church might have.
Have a wonderful month! Grace and peace to you…
